    Abstract
    Edwards and Skinner provide us with a new theoretical framework toanalyze sport in the global context. Drawing on Hardt and Negri'sconcept of Empire (2000) they provide us with insight into a newform of the globalisation process and its modern manifestation in the form of Sport Empire. Particular attention is given to the role of Nation-States and theUnited Nations. The various forms of biopoliticalcontrol that exist in Sport Empire are illustratedthrough a focus on the IOC and FIFA.
