    Abstract
    It is widely acknowledged that there is need to assess the influence of noise on animals, but overall, there has been relatively limited research undertaken in these fields; and the scientific evidence addressing the issue of human noise and wildlife is still rather meagre. This paper provides an overview of this research activity, and the contexts and management areas in which it has been carried out.
