Particularly, eighteen interviews with academic staff at different disciplines, academic rank, qualification, and administrative positions, have focused on the subject of how to build a good research environment for this university in order to increase research productivity of academic staff. The findings revealed that all of them are aware of the importance of research and research productivity, but the environment does not support them to engage in research. In the scope of this study, three general themes, which have emerged as results of thematic analyses of interviews, will be reported: intellectual climate, resources, and reward system. The findings are considered good resources to help leaders of this university understand the obstructions, which have been existing with the university, and the expectations of all academic staff.
