This article is for teachers of mathematics who wish to connect the multiplicative concepts that span single digit multiplication and division through to factorizing quadratic expressions and finding the roots of quadratic equations. The representational tools that are used to connect these operations are: common and explicit use of language, the array model, and the distributive law and algebra tiles.
