Abstract

This paper questions how the city of Gold Coast might be perceived for first- time visitors. Through the experience depicted by one artist and one architect, the research compares the current circumstances and the history of the Gold Coast, which is unfolded and explained in parallel. Most importantly, the study is concerned with public spaces and place-making, trying to reveal how the cultural background of visitors might alter the meaning and perception of places.
