Efficient Polysulfide Chemisorption in Covalent Organic Frameworks for High-Performance Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

High performance lithium-sulfur batteries have been successfully constructed by using boronate ester covalent organic frameworks (COFs) as the polysulfide hosts. The adsorption mechanism is ascribed to uniform coexistence of both electron-rich O and electron-deficient B atoms that can adsorb Li+ and Sx2−, respectively. In addition, the ordered structure of COFs allows higher heteroatom doping ratio as well as more uniform distribution and redeposition of sulfur, leading to good electrode kinetics.
