    Abstract
In this paper, issues are examined concerning the preparation, orientation and expectations of teachers who were appointed to a state school within a remote Indigenous community. The data were drawn from critical case study research undertaken in this school over several years. Issues in this paper are examined from the point of view of how they impact upon the Indigenous students’ human rights in relation to their educational experiences. Human Rights in education are defined according to appropriate international and national documents as they relate to education for Indigenous peoples. In this paper, issues are examined concerning the preparation, orientation and expectations of teachers who were appointed to a state school within a remote Indigenous community.
