Oral Mucosa Diseases show a multifaceted Picture and range from changes without disease value to malignant Processes, which have far-reaching Consequences for the Patient. The frequent, usually biannual Routine checks of the Patient in the Dentist's Office Allow for an Early Diagnosis of oral Malignancies, which no other medical Specialty Can afford otherwise. Squamous Cell Carcinomas of the Oral Cavity are among the six most common Tumors in Humans worldwide, accounting for about 95 Percent of all malignant diseases of the oral, jaw and Facial Areas. For example, an average of half of patients with the disease Still die Within this Observation Period. If early Detection can be treated in a timely Manner, however, the malignant Event can be curable (Stell et al. 1982). A Reduction in the unacceptably high Mortality and Morbidity of oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma can therefore only be achieved by early Detection and Clarification of unclear Oral Mucosal Changes.
