dc.description.abstract | Child sexual abuse is an international problem (Finkelhor, 1994 ). It has been perpetrated in a number of countries for a number of years. Evidence for this has usually come from small incidence studies including case studies (for example, Masson, 1984). However, it has only been in the last 30 years that the literature has revealed population studies that are statistically based. Professor Finkelhor's (1994) article on "The International Epidemiology of Child Sexual Abuse" succinctly analyses a number of studies in a variety of regions around the world to confirm that sexual abuse is an international problem. | |
