Abstract

Agitate Educate Organise: A history of Community Radio 4ZzZ Community radio 4ZzZ has been broadcasting local and underground music and local and alternative news for over 30 years. It operates under the logo AGITATE EDUCATE ORGANISE and is licensed to serve the general community with an emphasis on special interest and marginalised audiences. The station has a colourful history including the arrests of journalists and controversial police presence at fund raising events. This presentation/paper will look at the history of 4ZzZ as well as addressing some of the issues currently faced by the station to stay on the air.
