The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of shock events on strategic-decision making and the processes and strategies that organisations have put in place to cope with such events. It integrates research on strategic decision-making and crisis management to develop an integrated framework of strategic decision-making after shock events. Our central argument is that shock events influence strategic decision-making processes and the role of decision makers. A number of propositions were developed to guide future research. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of shock events on strategic-decision making and the processes and strategies that organisations have put in place to cope with such events.
