Accurate estimation of tissue volume has important applications in brain diagnostic and morphologic studies. In this paper, we show how partial volume estimation of brain tissues from 3D MR brain images can be performed using the recently proposed adaptive spatial FCM algorithm. The efficacy of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated experimentally using simulated MR images with known ground truths.Accurate estimation of tissue volume has important applications in brain diagnostic and morphologic studies.
