Chinese and Western Drama Traditions: A Comparative Perspective
Abstract
The chapters draws some similarities and differences between Western and Chinese theatre traditions. It does so in the following areas: drama genres, the purpose of drama,plot, tragedy and comedy, conventions, theatres and stages, and the social status of the actor. It concludes that the differences are more fundamental than the similarities.
