dc.description.abstractAn understanding and analyses of a learning episode where two children in year 4 interact with one another and their teacher while playing a probability game involving chocolate M and Ms is presented. In this game the children explore and focus on a number of powerful probabilistic ideas as this game produces congnitive conflict which in turn leads them to generate conjectures and engage in insightful mathematical reasoning.
