The growing scientific and epidemiological evidence linking oral health with general health conditions and the need for dental health to be included in health care reforms is discussed. Integrating the delivery of oral health and general health services will reduce unnecessary oral disease, unnecessary hospitalisations and poorer outcomes for patients with health conditions that have a likely association with oral health such as coronary disease, diabetes, and liver conditions. The growing scientific and epidemiological evidence linking oral health with general health conditions and the need for dental health to be included in health care reforms is discussed.
