Presenting a model of positive and negative emotions within individuals at work

The impact of emotions has become an important focus for research within organisations. Existing studies that examine emotions in organizations generally have only addressed discrete positive or negative emotions. In this paper, we present a new model for considering the simultaneous impact of positive and negative emotion on the behaviour of individuals at work. Our model fills a gap in the literature and we suggest that this model may encourage a new stream of research that considers the simultaneous impact of positive and negative emotion in the workplace. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.
