Why do political finance laws change? The literature on campaign finance law is substantial, but it remains distinctly non-theoretical in its treatment of developmental questions. Thus, while scholars in economic history, political science, and sociology have established significant insights into the ways that institutions and policy regimes change over time, these ideas have yet to be applied to campaign finance law-making. In this paper I aim to make a contribution to filling this lacuna.Why do political finance laws change?
