To the Editor: The Philadelphia‐negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) include three clinical entities commonly referred to as the “classic” MPNs: polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET), and primary myelofibrosis (PMF). In comparison to other cancer types, epidemiological data for these cancers are sparse. We report here the latest available statistics on incidence, prevalence, and survival of MPN in Australia. Methodological details, including statistical methods, can be found in the online supplement. Data were sourced from the Australian Cancer Database, which incorporates each of the eight population‐based cancer registries covering Australia.
