dc.description.abstract | After a renewal of my initial 4-year term, my mandate as Editor-in-Chief of Crisis was supposed to end in July 2016. I happily continued in my role for an extra 18 months, until the search for a new editor was eventually finalized. It has been a long journey and a major commitment, but I certainly did not walk alone during these years. First of all I would therefore like to express my gratitude to the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), which honored me by appointing me to the editorship of the journal in the first place. It has been a great privilege and responsibility. It goes without saying that suicide, apart from being the worst of all human tragedies, represents a kind of battlefield of different theories, approaches, viewpoints, religious perspectives, and ethical dilemmas. However, my editorship crossed five different IASP Executive Boards and nobody has ever attempted to interfere with my work and the editorial independence of the journal; at the same time I was always supported in the management of the journal and felt appreciated for the efforts I and others were making in its development. Many thanks, then, to all the IASP Executive Board members that I encountered for their impeccable behavior during my editorship. | |
