Our Students as Partners (SaP) approach successfully enhanced the engagement of students in Protein Science, a second-year biochemistry course, by allowing them to contribute to the curricula and assessment. The SaP strategy was threefold: 1. To offer students with a choice of topics for part of the course; 2. To create an opportunity for students to design multiple choice questions, with scaffolding, which formed part of the assessment; and 3.
