This paper presents the results of an exploratory study on the effect of observing different digital design representations on designers' visual attention. Forty five third-year and fourth-year architecture studnets participated in an experiment, in which they were asked to view a floorplan, a computer-generated hidden-line perspective, and a digital photograph of the same space in varying orders. Their eyespaces receive more attention and foreground areas attract designers' visual attention more quickly than other spaces. This paper presents the results of an exploratory study on the effect of observing different digital design representations on designers' visual attention.
