We have rationally fabricated an asymmetric structured mesoporous nanotruck by the interfacial-energy-mediated anisotropic growth strategy. This nanotruck possesses distinguished dual domains: (1) spherical SiO2 head with a rough surface as an engine for enhanced nano-bio interactions and (2) a periodic mesoporous organosilica nanorod with high surface area as a trailer for efficient drug loading. The nanotrucks can be further functionalized by embedding functional nanoparticles in the rough heads and exhibit great potentials in biomedicine. We have rationally fabricated an asymmetric structured mesoporous nanotruck by the interfacial-energy-mediated anisotropic growth strategy.
