Dear Editor, Recently, Cunha et al1 commented on our paper: EAACI position paper on diet diversity in pregnancy, infancy and childhood: Novel concepts and implications for studies in allergy and asthma” that was generated by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Task Force on Diet and Immunomodulation.2 Cunha et al suggest in their commentary1 that the acid load of food, based on potential renal acid load (PRAL) scores, should be considered when defining diet diversity. In support of their proposal, they cite their recent publication3 which demonstrates a higher dietary acid load was associated with asthma in obese children.
