This is an interim evaluation report, produced on behalf of the Kunga Stopping Violence Program (KVSP), a throughcare program supporting Aboriginal women who have been incarcerated in the Alice Springs Correctional Centre for an alleged violent offence. It outlines the initial findings of a broader qualitative creative evaluation project that has been postponed due to the extraordinary effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The evaluation employed traditional ethnographic methods and is based on interviews conducted in February 2020 with KVSP clients (Kunga women), staff, stakeholders/service providers whose work intersects with the Kunga Stopping Violence Program, as well as participatory observation, and non-confidential documents and published reports. The findings also draw upon radio packages produced with Kunga women incarcerated in the Alice Springs Correctional Centre in 2018.
