The Australian OT academic workforce has been impacted by an increased number of education programs and student enrollment. Only half have a PhD or professional doctorate, and there is only a small number in academic leadership. Most academics were motivated to become academics to teach students. Job satisfaction was influenced negatively by the number of years in current position, particularly dissatisfaction with pay, operating conditions, and promotion opportunities. The Australian OT academic workforce has been impacted by an increased number of education programs and student enrollment.
