The paper consists of semi-controlled rectifier circuits having thyristors as controlled switches. The gate pulse provided to these switches is of 15V (DC rectangular signal) at various firing angles. The rectifier circuit is on R load and it was noticed that even at R load the AC supply is supplying Q power towards the load side. Since R load doesn't demand Q power, the Q power is demanded by the controlled switches, at various firing angle. The Q power is directly proportional to the Sine of actual power factor angle. Aspect surmised from this paper is helpful for industries having systems working on controlled rectifiers. The paper consists of semi-controlled rectifier circuits having thyristors as controlled switches.
