dc.description.abstractResearch Background: An area of intense investigation throughout animation history, the interpretation of music in colour, form and movement has been central to abstract animation since the advent of cinema. Animated Colour Music Presentations in a live performance context have presented challenges to animators from Oskar Fischinger’s Raumlichtkunst of 1926 until the present day. Research Contribution: The Australian Festival of Chamber Music_Animation Project utilized the latest iterations of software plug-ins to Autodesk Maya, namely the Mash and Red Giant Trapcode suite for presentation in a live music performance context. Utilized within the VFX and motion graphics industries, these software enabled for this project, workflow efficiencies and creative solutions to the challenges of synchronization and large scale projection. Research Significance: The Australian Festival of Chamber Music now in its 28th edition is the largest festival of its kind in the southern hemisphere. The Festival’s directors were keen to expand its audience with innovative presentation formats, prompting the commissioning of this project.
