This is pithy and punchy book. It explores Indo-Pakistani relations through the prism of the Kashmir dispute, from the 1999 Kargil war to the breakdown, in late 2008, of the so-called composite dialogue process in the aftermath of terrorist attack on Mumbai. It is written with characteristic verve and deep knowledge of the bilateral relationship. It is also written with both theorists and practitioners in mind, offering reflections on the dominant explanations for inter-state conflict and on the implications for concerned policymakers.
