According to Jeremy Landt's (Transcore's chief scientist) inspection,2 the commercial activities of RFID began in the 1960s and 1970s, where developers, inventors, companies, academic institutions and government laboratories were actively working on RFID. A number of companies were also developing RFID technology. Among them, Raytheon's Retag in 1973 and Richard Clench of RCA's development of an electronic identification system in 1975 were major advances.
