Every weekend, from the age of four, Madeleine Watts (New York) was forced to fly between Sydney and Melbourne to stay with one or other of her estranged parents. In the liminal space between cities, this early frequent flyer learnt to recalibrate who she was to meet the needs of a mother and father at war.
