    Abstract
Many STEM students lack the necessary mathematical skills required for successful study in biochemistry. We introduced an online support site (Maths Skills) linked to the learning management system to provide clear explanations of important topics (e.g. algebra, graphing, logarithms) in the context of chemistry and biochemistry. It includes worked examples, and questions and answers for practice. In this study we investigated the utilisation of Maths Skills support by first year students. Many STEM students lack the necessary mathematical skills required for successful study in biochemistry.
