    Abstract
We are honoured to have been entrusted with the custodianship of HRMJ at a signal time in the journal’s development: it has made significant progress both in absolute and relative terms in impact factor and has been awarded Chartered ABS/Academic Journal Guide 4* World Elite Status (i.e. Journal of Distinction–the only one in the fields of HRM, Industrial Relations and Employment Relations). At the same time, it gives us opportunity to reflect on what makes for world leading scholarship in HRM and how the journal fits into the equation.
