    Abstract
Research Background: Transmuting Beyond Uncompassion For the Other of up or Forward was a site specific sculpture installed on Currumbin Beach for Swell Festival 2021. The work is a seven meter tensegrity using spirit levels as struts. Site specific, the empty form frames the view of the Gold Coast skyline and ocean horizon. Research Contribution: The work was extremely challenging technically. My objective was to interrogate the theory I had formulated in the context of a major public event with generally ‘public friendly art’. Can a Dissociative Art Practice integrate into this context effectively without losing integrity? The work is a response to considering the interconnectivity and dependence on one another in globalisation, and how we can reconstruct a better future. Research Significance: The work is a significant effort in technicality. I consider this experience as the beginning of challenging my own frameworks of Dissociative Self-portraiture. The work marks a new moment in research towards integrating the personal of the artist and dissolving the narrative of the collective.
