Data Availability Despite access to road traffic incident data, determining intentional crashes is extremely difficult. Depending on the methods used, different agencies will obtain differing estimates for the prevalence of road transport suicide. Through our collabouration with 89 national road stakeholder organisations, a wide-range of data was collected to inform these findings. Road Suicide Prevention Interventions Road safety interventions have included: Expanded mental health awareness initiatives. Pedestrian barriers and early warning systems. Advanced vehicle design to prevent injury. Traffic management and detection systems. Road traffic collision prevention barriers. However, currently little evidence has examined the effectiveness or success of these interventions. Report Recommendations Following these analyses, it was recommended that: Independent research be conducted to assess the efficacy of mental health/suicide prevention initiatives. Strategies are developed to build awareness and utilisation of employee mental health resources. Government an industry implement a standard approach to road safety risk prevention, including consideration in the design on future road infrastructure projects
