    Abstract
Wavelength scale imaging of trapped Ytterbium ions was demonstrated using a microfabricated phase Fresnel lens. Near diffraction-limited spot sizes of below 440 nm (FWHM) were achieved, an important precursor to efficient single-mode coupling.Wavelength scale imaging of trapped Ytterbium ions was demonstrated using a microfabricated phase Fresnel lens.
