Abstract

The chapter analyses China's crisis management among its ethnic minorities through an exploration of the four most serious crises to have taken place in China's ethnic areas under the People's Republic of China, these all occurring in the Tibetan areas and Xinjiang. The chapter evaluates China's crisis management in these areas and argues that, despite some weaknesses, it is effective enough to render the break-up of China improbable within the foreseeable future.
