    Abstract
    Issues of integrity and accountability dominated the period as both the Labor government and the Liberal-National Party (LNP) Opposition contended with some own goals. Even the new Katter Australian Party (KAP), while enjoying an early surge in support, met obstacles. With the economy providing mixed news and landmark social legislation enacted, the Holmes Inquiry's interim report into the recent Queensland floods found dam manuals wanting.
