This paper is a work in progress that explores how CA can contribute to our understanding of hypnosis as a socially organised accomplishment. The data consists of audiovisual recordings and transcriptions of hypnotic sessions that were analysed using CA. In this data session, we will focus on analysing how a hypnotist and a client go about managing interaction, in and across, both ordinary everyday and hypnotic realities. What is fascinating about this bit of data is the way in which ‘three’ participants are accomplished through talk-in-interaction.
