The article examines the death of a British tourist Sridhar Shekar due to a jet ski accident in Gold Coast, Queensland in 2008. It explores the response of the government which seeks to balance tourism interests and safety in jet ski hire. Also, it analyzes the recommendations to improve the safety of jet ski hirers including the requirement of helmets for personal watercraft drivers, the creation of enforcement guidelines, and the licensing for personal watercraft drivers who hire and drive.The article examines the death of a British tourist Sridhar Shekar due to a jet ski accident in Gold Coast, Queensland in 2008.
