Suicide survivors differ from other bereaved in some aspects of grief. Commonly they don't receive the much-needed support and understanding, a fact that jeopardizes their mental health. There is also a high suicide rate and presence of stigma among them. We address (i) a qualitative approach to better understand risk and protective factors that influence the outcome of the grieving process, and (ii) the implementation of a new prevention strategy for proxies, based on MBCT principles. Method: we used semi-structured interviews, analyzed with Atlas.si software, and implemented MBCT for suicide survivors. Results: preliminary results imply the heterogeneous nature of this group and their needs and lack of evaluated prevention strategies for them. Discussion: initiatives to implement new ways of interventions for survivors would be particularly welcome.
