dc.description.abstract | This paper introduces a High Frequency Coaxial Transformer (HFCT) with >99% power efficiency accompanied by an optimization work of its geometrical structure. A thermal analysis has also been conducted to determine if there are any hot spots in the HFCT (caused by eddy currents in the HFCT), which might damage its winding configuration due to the change in geometrical structure. The structure optimization process consequently affects parameters of the leakage inductance (Leq) and the coupling capacitance (Cps) of the HFCT. Since the HFCT is designed for use in high frequency applications, the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) issue has been taken into account in this paper. Furthermore, an investigation of the shielding effect of the HFCT has also been conducted. The thermal analysis and structural optimization of HFCT has been done using the FEM based numerical technique. | |
