Finland counts only six properties inscribed on the World Heritage List and among them only one property concerns an urban and architectural heritage. This is Old Rauma, one of the oldest harbours in Finland, that has preserved its ancient vernacular architectural heritage despire, fires, wars and various modernizations. If the history of FInland and its recent independence (since 1917) can partly explain this situation, on the national level the questions remain about the preservtion of urban and architectural sites: why so few of them, is there a true interest for them?Finland counts only six properties inscribed on the World Heritage List and among them only one property concerns an urban and architectural heritage.
