Evidence based training - From Inception to implementation

Abstract

The Evidence Based Training (EBT) project that is sponsored by the International Air Transport Association was undertaken to identify, develop and train the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by pilots to operate safely, effectively and efficiently in an airline environment. An extensive analysis of safety data from a wide range of sources has identified the most relevant threats, errors and undesired aircraft states, as well as their management by crews. This presentation will give insights into the results of the analysis and will discuss methods by which EBT can be incorporated into airline recurrent training programs in order to improve operational safety through more effective training standards.
