dc.description.abstractThe pentyl ester of rhodamine B was prepd. from the alc. and the free acid of rhodamine B using acetyl chloride which generated HCl in situ to catalyze the esterification reaction for an 85% yield. The C1-4 homolog esters were obtained in a similar fashion.
