    Abstract
This paper examines the development and implementation of Australian government policy in relation to the governance of national sport organisations (NSOs). The paper discusses the efficacy of current policy initiatives aimed at improving the governance of NSOs, in particular the failure of government policy to examine a wider range of governance solutions for NSOs. The paper concludes by identifying areas for policy refinement and the need for further empirical research in to the governance. This paper examines the development and implementation of Australian government policy in relation to the governance of national sport organisations (NSOs).
