Theoretically derived career education programs are not well documented in the career development literature. This remains so, despite growing recognition of the negative effects of a schism between theory and practice. This article begins with a description of this state of affairs and argues for the amelioration of this dichotomy. A program that was designed with the aim of amalgamating theory and practice is then described.Theoretically derived career education programs are not well documented in the career development literature.
