There have been some developments in the last three decades that have changed the very foundations of the way we understand reasoning, and have even given us some new conceptions about cognition in general. Halford, Wilson, Andrews and Phillips (2014) have reinterpreted current conceptions of reasoning and working memory to propose a scheme for integrating the conceptual foundation of psychology. In this chapter we will focus on the way changing conceptions of working memory have influenced research on reasoning. There have been some developments in the last three decades that have changed the very foundations of the way we understand reasoning, and have even given us some new conceptions about cognition in general.
