Abstract

This article reviews the accountability for the creation, management and use of intellectual property of Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 (Cth) (CAC Act) Commonwealth authorities. The CAC Act, together with the Charter of Budget Honesty Act 1998 (Cth), impose part of the Australian Government's management, reporting and audit framework. The article concludes that further reporting may be desirable or necessary to promote more efficient and effective outputs and outcomes for the government and the community as intellectual property becomes increasingly important for governmental CAC Act Commonwealth authorities.
