Abstract
The chapter traces Australia's relations with China in the context of globalization, focusing on the period from 1999 to 2004. It covers topics such as trade, tourism, and strategic matters. It analyzes the roles of certain important issues in Australia-China relations, including Tibet, Taiwan, relations of both countries with the United States, the war against terrorism, the war in Iraq, and human rights. It concludes that relations have remained excellent and are evem improving, despite differences in a few areas, but are asymmetric in the sense that the rising China matters more to Australia than the other way around..
