Abstract
Recent years have witnessed a paradigmatic shift for international education in Australia: the emergence of Brazil as a key partner for cooperation and integration in Australian higher education institutions (HEIs). This shift relates to two trends in international education in Australia. On the one hand, Brazil has emerged as a main source of international students in Australia, but that movement has significantly occurred outside the higher education sector. On the other hand, there is an increasing recognition that Australian HEIs must shift their gaze from Asia towards other regions and prioritise sustainable forms of integration and cooperation with Latin America.
